"People come into our lives for a reason and a season." These are the words of a good wise friend. We enter into a marriage commitment with dreams and expectations. For many these plans for the future come to fruition. Most of us have to change and mold dreams based upon the realities that face our lives. Unfortunately, not all couples can successfully navigate together through the uncharted waters upon which their lives must sail. Divorce is much like death. There is a great sense of loss. The dreams and expectations of younger years are dashed upon the rocky shores of hopelessness and doubt. With death, we have ceremonies that help us give respect and dignity to the memory of a loved one. Why not give the same respect and dignity to the memories of what was once a beautiful life experience. The Divorce Ceremony can be a valuable vehicle whereby a couple can give finality and blessings to what was in most cases a significant event and experience. It is my wish that all couples find a way to work through their differences as they grow through life. In the event that the paths of two individuals becomes too disparate, then please consider celebrating the good memories by forgiving each other. Only then can the new future of the one who you once loved so much be unfettered by the past. There are many forms that a Divorce Ceremony can take. This is but one example. |
